Annie Taylor

Annie Taylor (nee McDinny) is the foremost jewellery crafter at Waralungku Arts. Annie loves to combine bush materials with contemporary settings and findings to get the very best balance of traditional culture, contemporary design and wearable quality – she spends a great deal of time ‘out bush’ gathering seeds, pods, wood, shells, bone and feathers to incorporate into her unique designs. Annie comes from a family with a big reputation for creativity. In the generation preceding her, Dinny McDinny gained prominence for his large, confident paintings of local history and his daughter Nancy McDinny is well known for her political and environment works. Annie combines her creativity with a life of self-sufficiency on her family outstation Wandangula (Sandridge), where she and her husband grow a wide range of vegetables and fruit to feed their family. She also is a keen harvester or bush foods and medicines. Annie works very hard to maintain her creativity working around her employment as an educator and support person for women - teaching them about cancer prevention.
